Shock Troopers - 2nd Squad
Feb 13, 2011Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad (ショックトルーパーズ セカンドスカッド) is a 1999 run and gun arcade game developed by Saurus and published by SNK. The game is a follow up to the 1997 original Shock Troopers though it is unclear if the game is a direct sequel.
There was a second game titled Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad. It is considered to be a standalone title since the plot has no connection with the first game.
The gameplay system has been drastically changed because only 4 characters are selectable and the team mode from the first game is not featured in this. Also, the graphics has a more cartoon-feel to it and the sprites are a combination of 2D and 3D, although the game is completely in 2D since the 3D graphics are pre-rendered. There is also the ability to ride some vehicles, as in the Metal Slug games.
The follow-up is more violent than its predecessor because the enemies die in unique ways despite their cartoon-like appearance.

Shock Troopers
Jan 30, 2011The Bloody Scorpions have kidnapped a scientist and his granddaughter in order to gain the powerful drug, Alpha-301, which converts normal people into unbeatable superhuman soldiers. A special team must fight through their ranks in order to get to their leader and save the scientist's granddaughter and the world. The game received a semi-sequel in Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad. There is also believed to be a third game which became vaporware.
At the beginning of each session, players choose whether to go through the game in one of two modes, "Lonely Wolf" or "Team Battle". In "Lonely Wolf", you control one character throughout the game, while "Team Battle" lets you pick a band of three soldiers through their missions, switching between them on-the-fly. Choosing to go it alone gives you a higher starting life total, while proceeding as a team will give you a wider variety of special weapons as well as a higher starting total (ten for each of your three characters instead of twenty for one).
Each character has their own virtues over other selections. Some might start with higher life totals, while others could move faster. Regardless of your choice, the soldiers each possess a unique special weapon or "bomb", which varies in distance and range.
Controls consist of an 8-way joystick and four buttons. Players move in eight directions with the joystick and fire, dodge, use their special weapon, and switch characters with the A, B, C, and D buttons, respectively.
Players must progress through 6 stages, fighting against other soldiers, bosses, and finally, Commander. Your weapons can be fired in all 8 directions, but you can also strafe by holding down the fire button. Attacking within close range of an enemy will yield items, including point bonuses, weapon power-ups, and life. Enemy fire can be avoided with the dodge button. In "Team Battle" mode, you can cycle through your three selected soldiers, allowing you to utilize the traits and special weapons of each.

Captain America and The Avengers
Jan 28, 2011Players can choose to play one of four of the Avengers, being the superheroes Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and the Vision. What follows are a series of battle against supervillains across various locations in a bid to stop the villain the Red Skull. Other Avengers, including the Wasp, Quicksilver, Wonder Man, and Namor the Sub-Mariner, make cameo appearances.
Opponents include villains Klaw, The Living Laser, Whirlwind, Wizard, the Grim Reaper, the Mandarin, The Juggernaut, Ultron, and the assassin Crossbones. The game also has two and four-player options.
Players fight their way alternately through scrolling action with free movement as in traditional arcade brawlers and horizontal scrolling flying & shooting sequences.
In the fighting sequences the players use their martial arts skills and special powers to defeat the villains that stand in their way, but can also pick up and use many objects as weapons, including seemingly innocuous soda cans and even the bodies of enemies.

Tank 1990
Jan 22, 2011Battle City (known as Tank in some regions) is a multi-directional shooter video game for the Nintendo Family Computer produced and published in 1985 by Namco. The game was later released for the Game Boy and was included in the Japanese version of Star Fox: Assault. It is a port of the arcade game Tank Battalion with additional features (including two player simultaneous play, and an edit feature, both explained later). There was also a rendition for Nintendo's Vs. System arcade cabinets.
The player, controlling a tank, must destroy enemy tanks in each level, which enter the playfield from the top of the screen. The enemy tanks attempt to destroy the player's base (represented on the map as a bird, eagle or Phoenix), as well as the human tank itself. A level is completed when the player destroys all 20 enemy tanks, but the game ends if the player's base is destroyed or the player loses all available lives

Super Dodge Ball
Jan 17, 2011In the arcade version of Super Dodge Ball, the player's team is composed of seven members; the team's captain (a large-sized character) and six smaller sized characters. The captain and three of the other members are constrained to one side of the main court, while the other three stand at the sidelines surrounding the competing team. The objective of the game is to eliminate the members of the opposing team on the other side of the court by throwing the ball against them. Players who are eliminated are turned into a caricature of an angel that flies away to the top of the screen. The team that remains with at least one surviving member wins. If time runs out during a match, then the team with most surviving members wins. The player's life bar represents the number of remaining members, as each character is usually eliminated after taking three or four shots.
The game has two button configuration that change functions depending on the current circumstance. If the player currently has possession of the ball, then the left button will be use for throwing the ball against an opponent, while the right button is used for passing the ball to a nearby teammate. Likewise, if an opponent has possession of the ball, then the left button is used to catch or intercept an opponent's throw, while the right button is to duck an attack. Pressing both buttons simultaneously will cause the player to jump. The player can also dash by pushing the joystick left or right twice, increasing the momentum of an offensive throw. The team's captain has a specialized offensive throw, also known as a "Power Shot", that travels faster and does more damage than a regular offensive throw.
The game begins with a match between Dallas and Chicago to determine who will represent the United States in a worldwide dodge ball tournament. In the single player game, the player will control Dallas, while the computer controls Chicago. If played against a second player, then the first player controls Dallas and the second controls Chicago. The winning team will then compete in the world cup and face against the following regions: England, Iceland, China, Africa (Kenya in later versions) and Japan. The foreign teams have more than four team members playing offense, although only four show up on the main court. If an opposing team loses a member, they will call upon one of their backups to replace the fallen teammate. After defeating Japan, the player's team is awarded with the world cup by a ninja and the game begins a new cycle starting with England.
